Acrylic for Picture Framing clear and non glare

"Holy cow! My order arrived in 2 days and was better wrapped than a newborn. Thanks!"

        New lower prices!

Picture Frame Glass

Our standard Optix acrylic sheet blocks out most of the UV (ultra violet) light.

If you are going to be dealing with acrylic you need NOVUScleaning and polishing products.

Clear and non glare smooth acrylic for picture framing.  The thickness is called 1/8 inch*.  There are two kinds of plastic glazing - polycarbonate and acrylic.  Polycarbonate is very thin and and yellows over a short period of time. Polycarbonates are not suitable for picture framing.  Framingsupplies does not sell polycarbonate glazing.  The other type of plastic is acrylic.  Acrylic is the best for picture frame glazing and has UV protection.  Clear acrylic is made by many manufacturers,  in many different thicknesses from too thin to more than an inch thick.  The 1/8" will not "bow" in the frame.  So here we are... with clear and non glare acrylic 1/8 inch with best prices as usual.

*(1/8 inch is .125 of an inch.  The acrylic that the plastic industry calls 1/8 inch is actually .118  about two human hairs less than 1/8 inch).

These instructions are from the manufacturer of acrylic glazing.

Special handling hints you should follow to ensure proper framing and maintenance, and to prevent damage.

bulletBoth sides of the acrylic have a protective masking of polyethylene film.
bulletDo not remove this protective masking until you are ready to insert in frame. Never slide panels over each other, a table, or other flat surfaces. This can remove the masking and expose the finished surface to damage, such as scratching.
bulletTry to always handle the acrylic by the edges or wear clean, soft cotton gloves.
bulletWhen you are ready to insert the sheet into the frame, it is recommended to peel the protective masking from only the edges of the side that will face out. Remove the rest after the frame is completed.
bulletOnce the acrylic is fitted in the frame, remove all the masking from the side that goes up against the art or mat.
bulletTo remove any finger prints and to eliminate static buildup, use a weak solution of liquid dish washing detergent and warm water. Wipe the area gently with a soft, lint-free cloth. Allow the surface to air dry completely.
bullet Also 3M Plastic Cleaner, & 3M Plastic Polish see below.
bulletAfter the frame is finished, complete the removal of the protective sheet from the front.
bullet NEVER USE AMMONIA TURPENTINE BASED CLEANERS, or ABRASIVE CLEANERS.
bulletIf cleaning is required after the frame is in use, wash only as above. 3M cleaning fluids, 3M microfiber cloths and anti-static materials.
